Solar panels are powerful, but the materials they use are limited and often sourced from abroad. In this talk, I’ll show how free-space luminescent solar concentrators, our “magic mirrors,” can collect sunlight from many directions and redirect it onto solar panels. This could reduce the amount of solar panel material needed, strengthen energy independence, and spread solar yield more evenly across the year, including in winter.

The human body hosts 50+ hormones coordinating virtually everything. Yet, they only make headlines during pathologies or pregnancy. Hormonal fluctuations occur cyclically in many people and variably in others, shaped by biology, cycle, age, and gender-affirming therapies - silently influencing mood, metabolism, and energy on a daily basis. What if we designed for this hormonal reality instead of ignoring it? This talk explores how design can raise awareness of hormones beyond reproductive health, putting endocrine literacy in everyone's hands.
